No change in the forecast tonight. Still going to be cold af. Tomorrow is much the same.

We now get to enjoy some sun for the next several days with each day slowly getting a bit better. The middle to end of next week is warming up nicely.

There’s nothing in the forecast to suggest anything bad for the roads apart from icy conditions these next couple of nights.

If the wind changed direction and straightened a little, that would also help. It’s not forecast to change though.

Let me know if anyone sees snow at very low levels. I want to see proof!

The only way that we’ll see snow in the city is if old mate here works his magic.

If it’s not blowing at your place yet, then it’s about to. It’s going to get very windy during the night. It will be at its gustiest from about 8am until 6pm tomorrow. Don’t bother taking the brolly for the school run. You’ll take a kids eye out.

Rain will be patchy. It’ll come in hard and fast and then disappear quicker than cake at my 2 year old nephews birthday party.

You won’t be worried about the cake rain as it’ll be bitterly cold. The wind will rip right through you. Just stay inside if you can.

The rain will ease as the day goes on tomorrow. It’ll stay windy for most of the evening. Wednesday will be calmer but bu**er me days! It’s going to be -5 on Wednesday night.

So avoid anything outside tomorrow day and evening and dust the old hottie off for Wednesday night.

The snow. Don’t get your hopes up. I can’t see it falling anywhere near sea level. The port hill residents might see the odd light flurry. Hopefully I’m wrong. If it’s going to be a sh*tty day, we may as well have something to look at. But there’s a decent chance any snow showers will head out to sea.

The alpine roads will be sweet as with this system.

All alpine roads are open this morning. No restrictions in any of them. It’ll stay this way all day. It’ll get pretty icy up there tonight so take care if you have to travel after dark.

For the rest of us, rain will ease for coastal areas then it’s going to freeze it’s t**s off tonight. Everywhere. Stay home where it’s warm. 🤙🤙

SH7 Lewis pass is open. No restrictions at all.

This southerly rain shouldn’t add to any further restrictions on this road.

SH7 Lewis pass is closed due to snow. It will clear in the next few hours over there. I’d imagine the road willl open at some stage tonight.

Bit of a windy couple of days ahead for everyone. Inland areas will get smashed with westerly winds until about mid arvo tomorrow. Coastal areas will get the same winds but not as brutal.

The coastal areas get their turn with the brutally strong winds late arvo, early evening tomorrow. Coming from the south, it will be bitterly cold. Strong winds, sideways rain and a pinch of snow for those about 500m.

The rain eases early Saturday morning but the strong southerly winds will stick around until the evening.

I wouldn’t expect any alpine roads to close for snow with this system. The rain and wind could cause some issue on the passes tonight so be careful if you’re out driving in those areas.

Just like a carbon copy of last weekend, once the weather settles down, Saturday night brings cold frosts. We can enjoy frosty mornings for all of next week. 🤙
