One of the questions we are often asked is:
“Who is this project actually for?”

The answer is simple.

Whakaraupō Recreation Inc. exists to help create safe, inclusive recreation opportunities for communities across Waitaha Canterbury — while protecting and strengthening the special character of Whakaraupō.

This is not about creating an exclusive space for a select few.

It is about creating opportunities for:
• young people learning new skills
• families connecting through recreation
• schools and community groups
• waka ama, sailing, open water swimming and all other water users
• people wanting safer year-round access to the harbour
• future generations who deserve strong connections to place and environment

We believe recreation spaces work best when they are welcoming, community-led and connected to the identity of the harbour itself.

Built with community, for community.
