Arrowtown’s one of those places where it pays to take your time.

Yes, it’s small. But between the old cottages, side streets, laneways, shopfronts, galleries and little bits of history tucked all over the place, there’s always more to notice than you think.

Have a wander, look around properly, and don’t be afraid to follow a doorway or a sign that catches your eye.

That’s usually where the good stuff is.

Starting the day with a bit of South Island tranquillity.

One of the best things about basing yourself in Arrowtown is getting to enjoy the peace and quiet before the day visitors arrive.

Some mornings it feels like you’ve got the trails, streams and river all to yourself, making those early strolls through nature feel pretty special.

An evening wander down Arrowtown’s historic main street.

A bit of crisp winter air, the lights coming on, a dusting of snow o the hills, and probably just enough of an excuse to pop into the pub to warm up.

It’s a pretty good way to end the day in Arrowtown if you ask us. 😉

As part of the Light Up to Linger Longer initiative, businesses around town have been lighting up their shopfronts and helping create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors to enjoy.

The streets feel brighter, the evenings feel a little cosier, and there’s even more reason to take your time and enjoy town after dark.
