Our 50th episode is LIVE.

Peter and Paddy talk through the Mountain Club ecosystem and the flywheel effect, the compounding network of connections that has helped drive membership to nearly double since that first conversation, from sold-out signature experiences like NZFW and Snow Machine: The Ultimate Alpine Experience, a full weekly wellness schedule to member-led events and business introductions playing out across Queenstown, Australia and globally. They also introduce the excitement building around Summit, Mountain Club’s newest offering connecting high-net-worth individuals relocating to New Zealand, and what it means for the next wave of growth.

Mountain Club CEO Peter Fullerton-Smith and Co-Owner and Head of Membership Paddy Kluts sat down together to mark the milestone, reflecting on everything Mountain Club has built since that first Origins episode two years ago, where we are today and what’s ahead.

They share some of their favourite events and experiences, highlight a few of the incredible experiences curated for members, and dive into Summit, our newest tier, and what’s next for Mountain Club.

The past fortnight at Mountain Club.

We started September by taking the club over the hill, two days at Lake Hāwea and Cardrona for The Secret Sauna Lake Hāwea, guided hot and cold therapy with sweeping alpine views, and a stop at the Cardrona Pub to round it out.

Our monthly AI Meet-Up with Andrew Leary and Billy Waller dug into real product decisions and what’s actually working, plus a busy tasting session with Matt Connell Wines.

Then a Father’s Day Sauna and Plunge for the dads in our community, before Snow Machine kicked off with a VIP Artists Speaker Series, a live podcast recording hosted by Danny Clayton with illy, NICKA and Pat Stevenson, before taking over the centre of town at the Rees Street Party.

The lucky crew scored the bluebird powder day of the season, fresh lines and blower pow all the way down, before closing out the signature experience with après at Coronet, drinks at Sundays and a VIP finish at Mainstage. One for the books.

Tasting Session with Rifters || Thursday 24 September || 1730-1900 || Mountain Club Beach Street

Rifters started with two Central Otago builders, Hamish and Stu, who liked gin enough to start making their own. What began in a workshop near Arrowtown has since picked up multiple awards internationally, including World’s Best Gin 2025 for their Royal Gin Navy Strength.

Join us for a tasting through their range, made with botanicals foraged locally and pure New Zealand artesian water. Their ethos is one we happily get behind: care for the land, good conversation, and being properly immersed in whatever you’re doing, gin included.

There’ll be good company, thoughtful pours and the stories behind the botanicals and the bottle, straight from the people who make it. Complimentary for members, guests welcome for a $20 donation.

As part of our Snow Machine Signature Experience, Mountain Club held a live podcast for our VIP Snow Machine Artists Speaker Series, hearing from the artists, DJs and people who make the iconic festival what it is.

Hosted by Danny Clayton, Australian TV and radio presenter and DJ, the conversation brought together multi-Platinum selling artist illy, DJ and media broadcast icon NICKA, and photographer / DJ Pat Stevenson, on his 10th Snow Machine, for a chat on the festival and the wider music scene.

An unfiltered conversation between artists, moving from the chaos of Snow Machine’s first edition in Japan, to what they’re most looking forward to at Snow Machine 2026, before diving into why the festival has outlived so many others, what live music means to the next wave of festival goers in a world increasingly shaped by AI, and the shift away from drinking towards wellness.
