Some of our firefighters this weekend headed up to Auckland to take on the Firefighter Sky Tower Challenge Fundraiser,

Managing to raise over $10,000 over the last few months to contribute to the total of over $2.5 Million to Blood Cancer NZ

Once again our team found success with Gemma bringing home a gold medal and Isaac with a bronze, Fliss bringing in a 5th place and Ben in 21st. Each in their respective category.

This was our second year at this wonderful event and are looking forward to next year already!!

Thanks to all the event organisers for another great climb!

And shout out to Everest Personal Training for all the background work getting us prepared for the challenge!

What an absolute privilege it was to host the 2026 Canterbury Wajax Competition

We had an amazing day putting our skills to the test, and catching up with our good friends from multiple brigades!

We managed to find great success in our ladies and masters teams taking out top spots and bringing the trophy’s back home!

However our open… we’ll be back next year 😉 Hurunui Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade

Thanks to everyone that came along to support us and those that competed

We are greatly looking forward to doing it all again next year, for more great times!!

We have the privilege of hosting the 2026 Canterbury Wajax Challenge, this Saturday in Rolleston

☕️ Coffee cart and Sausage sizzle on site

There will be multiple fire teams competing on the day with numerous trophies up for grabs, come down and watch the action unfold!!

Our 2026 Sky Tower Climbing Team will be doing a fundraising bbq outside New World Wigram on the 17th of May as a last big team effort to raise as much as possible to go to Blood Cancer NZ, it would be great to see you there!

We have already raised around $6000 for this great cause!!

Huge thank you to everyone who came along to Quiz Night! 🎉

And a massive thanks to Robbie’s Rolleston for hosting — such an awesome night. I apologise for the lack of evidence… I completely forgot to take photos until the very end 🤦🏼‍♀️

While we didn’t quite raise enough to shave Caveman’s beard (maybe next time 😅), we did raise just under $3,000 — pushing our team total to over $5,000! 🙌

We’ve still got 2 months to go until the stair climb on 23 May, so please keep spreading the word and sharing our fundraiser page. We’re aiming to raise as much as we can!

Jared has hooked our sky tower climbing team up with personalised training plans tailored to each of us.

We really appreciate what you’ve done for us this far

Getting prepared to race up the big tower is always a personal challenge to everyone involved, so these training plans and sessions are truly invaluable!

🔥 Open Fire Season🔥

From 8am Tuesday 27 January, the entire Canterbury District is lifting restrictions and moving back to Open Fire Season.

We’ve received significant rain in the last few weeks, which means the fire danger has reduced. As we saw in Canterbury late last year, dry weather and high winds can still cause fires to spread quickly regardless of the fire season. We expect anyone lighting a fire to do so responsibly.

❌ Don't light if high winds are forecast
