PNG University of Technology Interns (Communication for Development)
LAE, MOROBE PROVINCE โ The Lae City Tourism Bureau (LCA Tourism) recently celebrated the successful completion of the On-the-Job Training (OJT) program for two exceptional Communication for Development (C4D) students from the PNG University of Technology: Daniel Parak and Anita Rupa.From April 8th to May 31st, 2026.
Daniel and Anita has immersed themselves in practical, high-impact projects that highlighted the intersection of effective communication and sustainable tourism.
Key Internship Highlights & Achievements are,
1. International Relations: Supported the Lae & Cairns Sister City Botanical Gardens exchange (Carving Project).
2.Event Management : Assisted in coordinating the launch event for the Lae Rosso Mountain Bike Race Sponsorship.
3. Community & Culture: Evaluated arts, culture, and dance presentations as guest judges at Busu Secondary School.
4. Field Research: Conducted critical social mapping at Gabensis Yereyang Village for local product development.
5. Industry Relations: Participated in an educational Lae City tour hosted by Emma Nasinom of LaeAboutTours.
Throughout their tenure, Daniel and Anita proved that modern tourism extends far beyond sightseeing. By leveraging their C4D training, they acted as vital conduits between travelers and local stakeholders.
Their work in social mapping ensured that grassroots community voices remain central to local tourism products, while their media storytelling efforts championed cultural preservation and responsible travel heritage.
