Meet the Lae Ambulance Team đźš‘đź’š
Last week, our Lae Ambulance Team was joined by Commissioner and Chief Executive Kai Tane for their St John Day celebrations.
As part of the celebrations, the team visited the Emergency Department at Angau Memorial Provincial Hospital on Thursday to thank one of our valued healthcare partners for their continued collaboration in caring for the people of Morobe Province.
On Friday, staff came together with their families for a St John Day family celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise not only our Green Angels, but also the families who stand behind them—supporting them as they answer the call to serve their communities, day and night.
Lae is the second-largest ambulance station in Papua New Guinea, after the National Capital District. The station has 27 staff, including reservists and volunteers, with two ambulances on duty at any one time. The team responds to emergencies across Lae, Nawaeb and the Huon Gulf District, and also supports neighbouring districts when resources allow.
2025, the Lae team responded to 12,352 emergencies, reflecting the vital role they play in delivering emergency medical care across the province. Beyond emergency response, the team is actively involved in community events, public education and first aid awareness programs.
To the people of Morobe Province, thank you for your continued trust and support of your Green Angels. It is a privilege to serve your communities.
