Over 160 staff members of the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines (CHR) joined a workshop led by Australian human rights experts Chris Sidoti and Ben Lee on international human rights law, focusing on investigative approaches.

On 8 June 2026, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred offshore from Maasim, Sarangani Province.

A tsunami warning has been issued for Sarangani, Davao Occidental, Tawi-Tawi, Sulu, Basilan, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato. If you are in an affected area, immediately move further inland or to higher ground.

If there is an official evacuation warning, you should immediately follow the advice of local authorities. Monitor media for updates.
