๐๐ก ๐ฃ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ฆ: The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) organized a Unified Persons with Disability ID System (UPWDIS) training on April 29, 2026 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, DRDC building, NCDA compound participated by Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) heads/focal persons and staff from 15 LGUs of the provinces of Tawi-Tawi (9 including the province) and Sulu (6 out of 13 LGUs).
Executive Director Glenda D. Relova gave a welcome message to the participants and briefly explained the purpose of the UPWDIS and the objectives of the training including the discussion of NCDAโs initiatives particularly the development of the Philippine Disability Strategy and Decade Plan, DCAP, TheraFee and CAREvan. She emphasized the need for the Decade Plan, which is the first time to be developed in 48 years of NCDA existence, to set directions towards empowerment of the disability sector through responsive programs and services.
It was clarified in the training that there should be โparallel uploadingโ of persons with disabilities information using both the PRPWD and UPWDI systems. Moreover, PDAOs should use the UPWDIS immediately after the training which will be monitored by NCDA
The participants were very appreciative of the training and commented that the UPWDIS is user-friendly. NCDA also handed over desktop computers and sign-pads to fourteen (14) LGUs which will be used for the said system.
The group agreed to organize a BASULTA (Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi) Disability Conference with a tentative schedule in November 2026 and will request technical assistance from NCDA.
During the closing program, DED Dandy Victa reiterated the importance of the UPWDIS and thanked the participants for their support and commitment to the disability sector and NCDA.
