DSWD FO2, supports training of women leaders for disaster response in Isabela

The DSWD Region II is strengthening disaster preparedness efforts at the community level through the training of women leaders who could play key roles during emergencies and displacement situations.

Members of the Ilagan Association of Women (ILAW) from different barangays in the city recently completed a two-day crash course on Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), Internally Displaced Persons Protection (IDPP), and Women and Child-Friendly Spaces.

The training, organized by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), aimed to prepare participants for responsibilities related to evacuation center management and the protection of vulnerable groups during disasters.

๐‹๐Ž๐Ž๐Š | As part of the continuing implementation of the Project LAWA at BINHI, the DSWD Caraga conducted project monitoring activities this week in the municipalities of Malimono, Surigao del Norte, and Barobo, Surigao del Sur.

In Barangay Gamut, Barobo, Surigao del Sur, the monitoring team assessed several community-based initiatives, including Corn Production, School-Based Gardening, Community Vegetable Gardening, and the Installation of a Jetmatic Pump. Meanwhile, in Malimono, Surigao del Norte, the projects monitored included the Diversification of Water Supply, Establishment of a Communal Garden, and Establishment of a Nursery Shed.

These initiatives support the objectives of Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished), which aims to strengthen food security and improve access to water in disaster-vulnerable communities.

Project monitoring is a vital component of implementation as it helps ensure that the established projects remain functional, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of partner beneficiaries and the communities they serve. Through regular monitoring, partners can assess progress, identify challenges, and provide appropriate interventions to maximize project outcomes.

The monitoring teams were composed of representatives from DSWD Field Office Caraga, the Provincial and Municipal Agriculture Offices (P/MAO), Municipal Social Welfare and Development Offices (MSWDO), Barangay Local Government Units (BLGU), and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMO).

๐—ข๐—ก๐—ฆ๐—˜ ๐—จ๐—ฃ๐——๐—”๐—ง๐—˜ | Hope and relief continue to reach flood-affected families in Compostela, Davao de Oro as the DSWD XI - Davao Region carries on with the distribution of Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) assistance to communities severely affected by the shear line that struck the province earlier this year.

A total of 26,075 beneficiaries are expected to receive assistance under the program. Each qualified beneficiary will receive โ‚ฑ5,122 in financial aid to help cover essential needs such as food, medicine, and other daily expenses as families strive to recover and rebuild from the impacts of the disaster.

The payout forms part of the government's continuing disaster response efforts and supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to ensure the timely delivery of assistance to communities affected by calamities.

More than financial assistance, the ECT serves as a lifeline for vulnerable familiesโ€”providing support, restoring hope, and helping communities recover with dignity and resilience.
