The Department of Education โ Schools Division of Romblon successfully advanced the implementation of Project CARE (Comprehensive Approach to Resilience in Emergencies), an initiative aimed at strengthening Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) education through the development and integration of DRRM Education, Information, and Communication (EIC) materials into teaching and learning.
The successful completion of the initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the projectโs evaluators, layout artists, and Technical Working Group (TWG), whose expertise and dedication contributed to the development, refinement, and finalization of the DRRM EIC materials.
The initiative also received full financial support from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) under the leadership of Hon. Gov. Trina Firmalo and Engr. Jerome Maestre, particularly for the development and finalization of the DRRM EIC materials and their integration into the curriculum.
The project likewise gained the support and guidance of the Schools Division leadership, led by Schools Division Superintendent Roger F. Capa, CESO VI, together with Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Cynthia Manalo, CID Chief Dr. Melchor M. Famorcan, and SGOD Chief Dr. Ringo V. Ferriol.
Providing technical assistance throughout the process was the Learning Resource Management Section (LRMS), headed by Maโam Lulu Lo, whose team supported the finalization and quality assurance of the developed DRRM EIC materials.
Through Project CARE, SDO Romblon continues to strengthen the integration of disaster preparedness and resilience into educationโhelping ensure that learners and schools are better equipped to understand, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
Together, SDO Romblon and its partners prepare today to protect tomorrow.
