Patuloy na inilalapit ng DOST ang agham sa mga komunidad sa pamamagitan ng HANDA Pilipinas Caravan na bumisita sa Taguig noong May 20 hanggang 21 at sa Malabon noong May 25 hanggang 26 upang tulungan ang mga mamamayan na mas maging handa sa bagyo, lindol, at iba pang mga sakuna.

Tampok sa HANDA Caravan ang iba’t ibang interactive at DOST-developed Disaster Risk Reduction and Management technologies na layong gawing mas madaling maintindihan at mas praktikal ang paghahanda sa sakuna para sa publiko. Nagkaroon din ng mga talakayan tungkol sa weather-related hazards, warning systems, radiation protection, food security, at iba pang makabagong teknolohiya na makakatulong sa disaster prevention, preparedness, response, at relief operations.

Nagsama-sama rito ang DOST-NCR at iba’t ibang DOST-attached agencies upang magbahagi ng kaalaman at mga solusyong makakatulong sa bawat komunidad sa panahon ng emergencies at kalamidad.

Sa pamamagitan ng mga aktibidad na tulad nito, ipinapakita ng DOST na ang agham ay hindi lang para sa laboratories at eksperto. Sa halip, inilalapit ito sa mga tao upang magamit sa pang-araw-araw na buhay—lalo na sa pagprotekta sa pamilya at komunidad laban sa panganib at sakuna.

Ang HANDA Pilipinas Caravan ay inaasahang magkaroon ng second leg. Manatiling nakatutok sa page ng DOST-NCR upang malaman ang mga magiging detalye nito.
