Government Innovation Lab (GIL) is housed at the University of Balochistan, which is an initiative of P&DD, GoB and supported by UNDP. GIL aims to help government departments to improve service delivery and governance through innovative solutions using agile methodology and citizen-centric approach. er under one of its key components namely Pilot Implementation, Fellowship Program and Research/Survey. Currently, GIL interventions are the implementation of one Pilot in collaboration with PHED, GoB, three fellowship programs for PHED, Q-WASA, SED, and LGD of the government of Balochistan with three selected PSDP projects for surveys/research studies to better plan and execute. The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), University of Balochistan being a leading resource centre for the transformation of today’s research and development into the foundation for tomorrow’s successful businesses; to ensure that nascent technologies emerging from university research seed new products and services that can drive local economic development and address the needs of Balochistan and Pakistan. ORIC believes in collaborative opportunities to build provincial capacity for upcoming challenges through Academia, Government and Development sector linkages for sustainable development. ORIC, UoB in collaboration with UNDP has signed LoA to serve Balochistan SDG challenges jointly with Government of Balochistan and established of Government Innovation Lab at the University of Balochistan that is an initiative of Planning & Development Department, Government of Balochistan with the support of UNDP. GIL is collaborative, multidisciplinary and user-led that employ agile methodology through providing a co-working space where government and other organizations, researchers and innovators can experiment new and efficient ways of solving old problems.
