In partnership with the Ministry of Health Tonga, the STEPS Survey has been successfully completed in the outer islands and is now in its final phase in Tongatapu. STEPS Survey is expected to conclude on 𝟏𝟏 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has participated in this important survey.

On 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟯𝟬𝘁𝗵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, the Tonga Statistics Department (TSD) hosted an intensive Stakeholder Consultation on the 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘂𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲! Key leaders and representatives from government ministries, NGOs, and the private sector gathered to review the baseline 2021 Census questionnaire. Together, stakeholders discussed how to adapt and refine questions so that the 2026 Census accurately reflects Tonga’s evolving socio-economic landscape.

As the Deputy Government Statistician emphasised, relevancy, priority, quality, and clarity are crucial to gathering the data our country needs most. TSD will continue stakeholder discussions before finalising the questionnaire in time for fieldwork on November 30, 2026.
