The Government has successfully concluded its first 100 days in office under the leadership of Prime Minister Lord Fakafanua. This milestone marks a historic achievement as the first time a Government of Tonga has launched, implemented, and publicly reported on a coordinated 100-Day Work Plan across all Ministries. Initiated by Prime Minister Lord Fakafanua at the commencement of this administration, the 100-Day Work Plan was designed to drive early action, strengthen government performance, and demonstrate accountability to the people of Tonga.

During this period, Ministries identified and advanced priority initiatives aimed at strengthening the foundations of government, addressing critical gaps, and creating the conditions necessary for sustainable progress and improved service delivery to the people of Tonga.

Enhancing public services and improving the efficiency of government operations have been central priorities throughout the first 100 days. Significant progress has been made across a range of key areas, with many objectives achieved and others well underway. The Government also recognizes that there is still work to be done and remains committed to continuous improvement and delivering better outcomes for all Tongans.

This milestone was marked by the presentation and sharing of the Government's 100-Day Work Plan Report, which compiled the achievements, outcomes, and progress made across all Ministries, while also identifying areas requiring further attention and development.

The occasion was commemorated on Friday, 12 June 2026, in the presence of His Royal Highness the Prince Regent, Crown Prince Tupouto'a, Prime Minister Lord Fakafanua, Honourable Cabinet Ministers, Honourable Members of Parliament, and Chief Executive Officers from across Government Ministries.

This achievement represents a significant milestone in Tonga's public administration. As the first Government to undertake and publicly report on a coordinated 100-Day Work Plan across all Ministries, the administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to accountability, transparency, performance, and results-driven governance. The initiative reflects Prime Minister Lord Fakafanua's vision of a more responsive, effective, and accountable public service that delivers meaningful outcomes for the people of Tonga.

The first 100 days represent not an end, but the beginning of a sustained effort to do more and do better for the people of Tonga.

His Excellency Mr Leung Chun-ying, Chairman of GX Foundation, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Lord Fakafanua yesterday to discuss the Foundation’s humanitarian work and its cooperation with the Kingdom of Tonga in the areas of public health and people-to-people exchanges.

Discussions included the Memorandum of Understanding signed between GX Foundation and Tonga’s Ministry of Health this week, as well as support being provided to Tonga’s health sector, for which Prime Minister Lord Fakafanua expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude.

Established in Hong Kong, China, in 2018, GX Foundation is a non-government charitable organisation dedicated to providing medical and public health humanitarian assistance. Its work spans 12 countries and includes initiatives focused on healthcare, public health, and community wellbeing.

As part of its support to Tonga, GX Foundation is providing mosquito prevention essentials to Vaiola Hospital to assist ongoing efforts to respond to the current dengue fever outbreak.

On the margins of the Samoa Independence Day programme, Prime Minister Lord Fakafanua visited Fero Company Ltd, where he was welcomed by Managing Director Mr Sam Fulton and given a tour of the company’s manufacturing facilities.

Fero is a New Zealand manufacturing company that employs approximately 140 Samoans and exports its products to international markets. The visit provided an opportunity to observe firsthand how local industry can create sustainable employment, develop technical skills, and contribute to economic growth through value-added manufacturing.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the importance of fostering more Pacific-owned and Pacific-based industries of this nature across the region and expressed hope that similar opportunities for manufacturing, skills development, and job creation can be further developed in Tonga.
