The Springfield Township Police Department would like to recognize the outstanding investigative work and dedication of Detective Sergeant Troyer in bringing justice to the victims and families impacted by a tragic homicide and felonious assaults that occurred at a Halloween party on Canton Road in October 2024.
During the incident, Terrance Lamar Williams Jr., 25, of Canton, assaulted two victims and shot a third victim, who later died from his injuries.
From the outset, the investigation presented significant challenges. Witnesses were reluctant to cooperate, and many individuals present at the party either refused to provide information or claimed they did not know the identity of the shooter. Despite these obstacles, Detective Troyer remained committed to uncovering the truth.
Through countless hours of investigative work, the ex*****on of multiple search warrants, interviews, evidence analysis, and other investigative techniques, Detective Troyer was able to identify Williams as the suspect responsible for the shooting. His persistence and determination ultimately led to warrants being issued for Williams in March 2025.
Yesterday, that hard work resulted in justice. Williams pleaded guilty to Involuntary Manslaughter and was sentenced to 18 to 23 years in prison. This outcome would not have been possible without Detective Troyer's unwavering dedication, professionalism, and commitment to seeking justice on behalf of the victims and their families. While no sentence can erase the pain caused by this tragedy, we hope this resolution brings a measure of closure to those who have waited nearly two years for accountability.
Please join us in recognizing Detective Troyer for his exceptional work and perseverance in ensuring that those responsible for violent crimes in our community are held accountable.
