Meet one more of our Pawlution Patrol Officers, Derby! Derby has pledged to help limit their impact on water by telling their owners to pick up their p**p!

Pet waste is more than just an unsightly nuisance; it’s an environmental pollutant. When left on the ground, it washes into storm drains and local waterways, contributing to E. coli contamination, nutrient overload, and degraded water quality. The Paw-lution Patrol is a paws-on campaign designed to educate, engage, and empower pet owners to do their part in protecting local ecosystems, simply by picking up after their pets.

Stormwater Myths vs. Facts! 🤔💧

❌ Myth: "Pesticides disappear after they're applied and only harm the pests I'm targeting."

✅ Fact: Pesticides don't just vanish after application. Rain can wash them into storm drains, rivers, and streams long after they're applied and they don't discriminate. Pesticides can harm beneficial insects, fish, birds, and other wildlife, not just the target pests.

The common snapping turtle is the largest turtle in Ohio, weighing in at 10 to 35 lbs! They rarely make an appearance above the water, so watch your step; they will usually stay hidden unless approached.

These turtles tend to breed from April to November, and a typical clutch is 83 eggs.

Creatures found in the water come in all shapes and sizes! These macroinvertebrates can be as big as your thumb or as small as a grain of sand. Even though some of these bugs are small, it doesn't make their job any less important; they all play a vital role.
