🇺🇸 We Will Never Forget September 11th, 2001.

Today, the Westmere Fire Department joins our nation in remembering the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the 343 FDNY firefighters, along with the law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and countless others who demonstrated extraordinary courage and selflessness that day and in the days that followed.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to carry their memory with us. We remember their sacrifice, their service, and the families who continue to live with their loss.

May we never forget what was taken from us, the heroes who ran toward danger, and the way our nation stood together in the face of tragedy.

September 11th, 2001 Will Never Be Forgotten. 🇺🇸

Last night, our members drilled on safe and efficient operation of various types of hand and power tools. We also discussed proper care and maintenance of tools, which ensures that we are always well-equipped and ready to respond to any type of incident.

On Monday evening, our members got some hands-on training on high rise packs.

A high rise pack in firefighting is a specialized hose pack designed for mid rise and high-rise firefighting operations. This allows firefighters to transport and deploy hose lines in multi-story buildings. These packs typically contain bundles of hose, nozzles, and connection equipment.

The components are then attached to the internal standpipe system of a building to provide fire suppression capabilities without the need to stretch a hose line directly from an engine.

If this interests you, feel free to stop by to get an application and join our family.

Join Albany Firefighters and the Albany Firefighters Cancer and Disability Foundation as they support one of our own in their time of need as well as an employee from DGS.

Last week, one of their Battalion Chiefs and a DGS Supervisor were seriously burned in the course of their duties and require lengthy treatment. As a family, we always want to help our own, and we invite you to join us.

Stop by Fidens Brewing Company Saturday August 29th and raise a glass to these men and their families in their time of need.
