Island Health Foundation

Island Health Foundation Island Health Foundation's mission is to raise funds for Island Hospital and its commitment to community health.

Since 1978, the Island Health Foundation has been leveraging philanthropy to transform the health and wellness of your community through the programs and services of Island Health System (formerly Island Hospital). Affectionately known as the Foundation, the Foundation extends opportunities to community members, service clubs and corporations alike to financially invest in the delivery of award-wi

nning, top-notch healthcare in Anacortes and the surrounding region. This community investment ensures Island Health remains a local, independent, publicly-funded health system. The Foundation, therefore, serves as a financial resource for enhancing medical care through new technology and equipment, expanding critical programs like mental health services and community health education opportunities. As a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, the Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of up to 21 volunteer community leaders. The role of the Board of Directors is to provide fiscal oversight and stewardship, set policies and goals, as well as fundraise for the organization to fulfill its mission. The Board of Directors works closely with Island Health’s senior leaders to identify funding needs for which philanthropy can make a transformative impact. The Island Health Foundation is proud to be serving our community for over 40 years.

The Island Health Foundation, in partnership with Heather Ladd of State Farm, Mariah Haney of Compass Real Estate, and Dr. Sarah VanGaasbeek (model) of Island Health Family Medicine & Obstetrics, was thrilled to participate in the 7th Annual Unconventional Runway Show, the Anacortes Senior Activity Center Foundation's largest fundraiser of the year.

This year's design, "Peacock Princess Warrior Doctor", paid tribute to past Gala of Hope events and featured a creative mix of repurposed materials, including a Gala tablecloth, feather centerpieces, a surgical robot arm, and casting material generously provided by Island Orthopedics.

At Island Health Foundation, we believe strong communities are built through collaboration and support for organizations that enhance quality of life at every age. We were honored to take part in this fun and inspiring event while supporting the Anacortes Senior Activity Center and the valuable programs and services it provides for local seniors.

If you missed the runway show, you'll have another chance to see "Peacock Princess Warrior Doctor"! The design will be on display in Island Health's Main Entrance later this June. Be sure to stop by and admire this one-of-a-kind creation.

The Island Health Foundation team had so much fun celebrating at last Friday’s Island Health Employee Banquet, wrapping up an incredible Island Health Week dedicated to honoring our amazing staff!

This year’s event featured a costume contest, so of course we had to get creative and repurpose Gala of Hope décor into our costumes. From the Gala to the banquet, it’s been such a joy celebrating the people who make Island Health such a special place.

Thank you to all of our incredible employees for the compassion, dedication, and care you bring to our community every single day!

The 23rd Annual Gala of Hope was a record-breaking evening filled with generosity, hope, and community support. ❤

Thanks to our incredible donors, sponsors, volunteers, and guests, nearly $1.2 million was raised to support the modernization of 25 inpatient rooms at Island Health—spaces that have cared for more than 58,000 patients over the last two decades and will now get much needed upgrades including; new smart beds with continuous vital sign monitoring, in room computers for our care teams, and new televisions, flooring, lighting and family seating.
