Extension of public comment period: The comment period for the proposed relinquishments described below has been extended to September 29, due to the community crisis related to the Mukluk Fire. If additional time is needed, please request an extension before the period closes.

Public comment opportunity: The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is proposing to relinquish State entitlement land to facilitate conveyance of two Dingell Act allotment applications near the Taylor Highway. The Dingell Act provides that eligible Alaska Native Vietnam Veterans may apply for allotments of up to 160 acres of land from vacant, unappropriated, and unreserved land that the State has selected pursuant to 6(b) of the Alaska Statehood Act.

Notice of upcoming relinquishment of Alaska Statehood Act land selections: The State of Alaska was granted 105 million acres of land under the Statehood Act. To date, the State has received title to approximately 102 million acres of land, and the remaining entitlement is approximately 3.2 million acres. The Alaska Department of Natural Resources will be prioritizing its remaining land selections and relinquishing lower priority selections.

The new deadline for submitting public comments is 5:00 PM on Monday, September 14. Comments that have already been submitted will remain in the record. Revised or additional comments are also welcomed.
