Sometimes, a little bit of patience goes a long way. Young gardener Luca and his dad planted tomato seeds from our Seed Library in early summer. Now they're fully grown and ready to eat! Good job, Luca!

If you want to be a gardening superstar like Luca, come to our Growing Health program next Tuesday, September 1, 5:30p at the Anderson Main Library! Our partners at Clemson Extension Horticulture will teach you all about at-home vegetable growing, and will be sending participants home with broccoli to jump-start their veggie gardens. Register online at https://tinyurl.com/growing-health.

Can't make this program? No problem! Our Seed Library will be open until September 30th at the Main Library, so swing by before then and pick out your fall seeds before they're gone.

Fly high, Queen Dolly 🕊️ We join the world in mourning Dolly Parton, beloved singer, actress, businesswoman, and literacy advocate. Miss Dolly was not only an icon in the musical world, but also in the library world. Her Imagination Library has provided free books to children ages 0-5 for over 30 years and has instilled a love of reading in children all across the world.

If you want to read more about Dolly, visit your local library and check out our biography section, or read digitally on Libby. May her light shine on forever ❤

Are you prepared in case of an emergency? These community heroes are! Library Director Annie Sutton and Head of Human Resources Crystal Pepper recently completed CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) training with Anderson County Sheriff's Office - Emergency Management SC!

What is CERT training? CERT training equips people with the skills needed to care for themselves and assist their neighbors until emergency personnel arrive. When sponsored by a local government agency or recognized organization, CERT-trained volunteers may also support local authorities when emergency response resources are overwhelmed following a major disaster.

Thank you for having us!

It's that time of year again! Our Halloween Costume Shop is back, and we need your help in making it a success! We're collecting gently-used, kid-friendly Halloween costumes and accessories for families in our community who may need them. Do you have a costume that no longer fits or accessories you no longer use? We’d love to have them!

Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Kid-friendly costumes (please make sure they’re clean and in good condition – no stains or tears unless part of the costume design!)
- Costume accessories (wigs, hats, capes, masks, etc.)
- Teen and adult-sized costumes (as long as they are appropriate for kids)

Bring your donations to the children's department from August 15 through September 23 and help us spread Halloween fun! Every donation helps a family enjoy the spooky season without the stress of buying a costume. Questions? Email [email protected] or call 864-260-4500 ext. 158. Thank you for your support!

Last Friday was busy! While we were having a ball at Game Night, a group of library employees were bookin' it to the finish line at the YMCA's Midnight Flight 5K! Both events were so much fun, and we're incredibly grateful to the community for coming out and supporting us.

Tonight's the night! Join us for our final 'Night at the Library' event of the season: Game Night at the Library! We'll have popcorn, giant games, a Mario Kart tournament, and so much more.

While most of our events are drop-in style (aka, come whenever you want between 6:30-9 PM), our UNO tournament will begin at 6:50 PM sharp! Patrons 14 and up who wish to join our UNO tournament should go to the Makerspace on the 2nd floor of the Library right when they arrive to sign up for their slot. We'll also have "free play" UNO stations set up all around the Makerspace for patrons who'd prefer a more casual playing experience.

See you there!
