Celebrate America's 250th Birthday in Andover this Fourth of July!

The celebration will begin with the Annual Jerry Silverman Fireworks Show at 9:20 PM at Andover High School on Friday, July 3. Please arrive early to provide time to park.

On the Fourth of July, events will continue with the Select Board Fourth of July Pancake Breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 AM at the Robb Center, 30 Whittier Court. This year, the traditional Spirit Parade will be enhanced and rebranded as the Patriotic Park Promenade, stepping off at 10:30 AM in front of the Town Offices at 36 Bartlet Street and traveling through portions of Bartlet Street, Chestnut Street, and Whittier Court. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite patriotic attire.

Games and other family-friendly activities will be offered throughout The Park from 9:00 AM to noon, with a brief community celebration scheduled at the gazebo beginning at 11:00 AM.

All events are free and open to the public.

Firefighters responded to a reported 18-wheeler on fire on Route 93 South prior to 495 this morning.

On our arrival, the tractor portion of the truck was fully involved. Engine Company 3 stretched a hose line and extinguished the fire with the assistance of the other crews. There were no injuries to the driver or any of our firefighters.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, stepdads, grandfathers, foster dads, father figures, and those preparing to become dads.

We also want to recognize the Andover Fire Rescue dads who are spending today away from their own families while serving our community. Whether responding to emergencies, training, or standing ready to answer the next call, their dedication helps keep our community safe every day.

To all the dads making a difference—at home, at work, and in the community—thank you for everything you do.

Please join us in wishing Fire Lieutenant Robert Stabile a happy retirement after 37 years of service to the Town of Andover!

Lieutenant Stabile was appointed to Andover Fire Rescue on October 1st, 1988. Promoted to Lieutenant in 1996, Lieutenant Stabile served for a long time on Engine Company 1, and now retires out of Engine Company 2 in Ballardvale. During his career he also served on the Northeast Massachusetts Technical Rescue Team, and brought his knowledge and expertise back to the members of our department. In 2016, he was awarded the Andover Fire Rescue Award of Merit for his actions during the successful ice rescue of two fisherman in Harold Parker State Forest.

His father, Gerald Stabile, was also a Lieutenant on Andover Fire Rescue, and his brother, Stephen, served as a firefighter.

If you’re a firefighter, you know that some firefighters just LOVE the job. That is Lieutenant Stabile. A highly motivated and passionate fire officer, he always took an opportunity to teach and mentor a younger firefighter, while also asking for input and expertise from the more senior ones. Love and respect for this job were very important to him, and he instilled that everywhere he went.

While his retirement is a big loss to our department, it is certainly well deserved. Thank you for all of your dedication over the years, Lieu. Enjoy your retirement, you earned it!!!

Engine 1 and Ladder 1 conducted a drafting evolution today at Field Pond in Harold Parker State Forest.

Drafting involves moving water from a static source, a pond in this case, into a fire engine's pump in order to maintain their water supply.
This is commonly used in areas where fire hydrants are not readily available.

In this scenario, Engine 1 was able to flow nearly 1000gpm of water through their master stream, also known as a deck gun.

Firefighter Memorial Sunday was held this morning at Central Fire Station. This annual event is a time for us to honor the firefighters who have come before us, paving the way for future generations of Andover Firefighters who hold the responsibility of carrying on their legacies.
