Interview with Fed Gov Today: VA Continues EHR Implementation with Multi-Site Launch

Deputy Secretary Paul Lawrence joined Fed Gov Today to highlight that the Federal EHR is now live at four Michigan sites (Ann Arbor, Battle Creek, Detroit, and Saginaw), marking a major step in VA’s modernization effort. He discussed the extensive preparation behind the successful go‑live, including months of training, sandbox practice, hands‑on learning labs, and strong at‑the‑elbow support after launch.

The Michigan go‑live is part of a regional market strategy and a broader rollout plan through 2031. Deputy Secretary Lawrence also noted significant progress in reducing the disability claims backlog, reinforcing that all modernization work remains focused on delivering better, more consistent service for Veterans.
