VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System Welcome to the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System page! We consider it our privilege to serve their healthcare needs in any way we can.

Since 1953, the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System has provided state-of-the-art healthcare services to the men and women who have so proudly served our nation. Services are available to more than 153,000 veterans living in a 15-county area of Michigan and northwest Ohio. Our facility also serves as a referral center for specialty care. The main hospital campus located in Ann Arbor operates 101 acute care beds and 46 nursing home (extended care) beds. In addition to our main facility in Ann Arbor, we offer services in three community-based outpatient clinics. These clinics are located in Flint, Michigan; Jackson, Michigan; and Toledo, Ohio.

VA recommends that with average risk for breast cancer start screening with mammography at age 40. It is recommended to repeat this test every other year.

You may choose to get a mammogram every year. For 74+, talk with your health care provider about risks and benefits.

By getting routine mammograms, you may be able to detect breast cancer early and get treatment before it spreads. Mammogram costs are covered for Veterans receiving care at VA. https://www.womenshealth.va.gov

While parts of Toledo, OH, are affected by an ongoing Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) situation, the Toledo Veterans Affairs Clinic is operational, open, and safe. The clinic is well outside evacuation and shelter-in-place zones.

Veterans affected by the Toledo HAZMAT situation who cannot attend appointments at the Toledo VA Clinic or other Ann Arbor Healthcare System facilities should call VA Health Connect at 833-940-1624 to reschedule.

Employees affected by the HAZMAT situation should notify supervisors of their status.

Today is Breast Cancer Awareness Day.

1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and risk increases with age. VA follows the USPSTF screening guidelines, recommending mammograms starting at age 40 for most women.

Early detection saves lives, don’t wait to talk with your VA provider about your screening options.

Women Veterans have access to comprehensive breast health services through VA, including mammography, ultrasounds, biopsy & surgery, genetic counseling, and full oncology care.

He receives daily messages at home about nutrition, physical activity, and behavior change, combined with check-ins from a MOVE! clinician.
