The Athens County Sheriff's Office concluded a narcotics investigation on June 3, 2026, resulting in the arrest of Sheila McClellan, age 60, of Glouster, Ohio and Kevin Hogsett, age 50, of Malta, Ohio.

On May 5, 2026, detectives and deputies from the Athens County Sheriff's Office, along with investigators from the Athens County Prosecutor's Office, traveled to McClellan's residence in Glouster to arrest Hogsett after receiving information about an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Hogsett was wanted on various felony warrants related to aggravated possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs.
Hogsett was located at the residence and arrested without incident. While at McClellan's residence, detectives and investigators located suspected drugs/narcotics and evidence of drug trafficking, indicating her involvement in drug trafficking activity.

During this investigation, detectives and deputies seized multiple pieces of evidence related to drug trafficking, including suspected methamphetamine exceeding five times the bulk amount.

"Methamphetamine continues to be one of the most destructive drugs encountered by law enforcement in our region. The seizure of a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine and the arrests made in this case reflect the ongoing efforts of our deputies, detectives, and law enforcement partners to investigate drug trafficking and keep these dangerous substances out of our communities,” said Sheriff Smith.

McClellan was arrested on June 3, 2026, and charged with Trafficking in Drugs (F2), Possession of Drugs (F2), and Tampering with Evidence (F3).

Investigators have identified additional individuals connected to this case, and further charges are expected pending review. The case will be forwarded to the Athens County Prosecutor's Office for review.
