"The biggest thing that [Dayton Metro Library has] done is we partnered with SOPEC a few years back, and through their P3 program, we run on 100% renewable sources of energy," he said. "So that was kind of a really big step forward in lowering that carbon footprint.”

Congrats to on their new solar array!

As part of the Dayton Metro Library's efforts to reduce its carbon footprint, the organization is installing over 290 solar panels on one of its largest branches.

What are the benefits of electric aggregation in Ohio?

Electric aggregation allows local communities in Ohio to use collective buying power to negotiate competitive, fixed electricity rates compared to the default utility's Price to Compare. It provides budget stability, often features 100% renewable energy options, and guarantees that residents are never locked into hidden termination fees.

Q: What happens when voters approve opt-out aggregation?
A: If the voters approve the opt-out aggregation ballot language, the local government must approve a plan of operation and governance, hold at least two public hearings, and notify their residents of the plan of operation and governance, including details such as rates and other terms and conditions for the energy offer. The notice must include the option for consumers to opt-out of the energy aggregation offer.

Did you know the Logan-Hocking County District Library is a SOPEC member? Aside from utilizing the green power through our P3 program, here are a few other eco-friendly initiatives they are prioritizing:

- Community Youth Partnerships: A local 4-H group partners with them each year to plant and maintain the flowers in the library's back flower bed, helping to keep their grounds vibrant while supporting youth-led community service.

- Recycling Program: They maintain active recycling efforts throughout the library for both staff and patrons.

- Community Pollinator History: They used to house bees at the library to support local pollinators! While they aren't currently hosting them, it's a neat piece of their green history.
