After 22 years of transformational leadership, UNCF President and CEO Dr. Michael L. Lomax will conclude his historic tenure in June 2027.

During his leadership, UNCF has raised more than $4 billion, helped more than 300,000 students earn college degrees, and grown the organization’s endowment from approximately $60 million to more than $500 million.

This transition reflects years of thoughtful succession planning to ensure UNCF continues its strong momentum and unwavering commitment to students and member institutions.

As Dr. Lomax shared with The Washington Post: “Transitions, succession are points of vulnerability. So we’re making this the long goodbye.”

We are deeply grateful for Dr. Lomax’s extraordinary leadership and the legacy he leaves. As we prepare for our next chapter, UNCF remains stronger than ever—and the best is yet to come.
