Today was our staff holiday party, and we celebrated in our pajamas on the lake, hosted by our beloved board member and volunteer, Nan Easler. It was so much fun to all be together outside of work, enjoy a delicious brunch, exchange gifts and ornaments, and laugh! Thank you to Nan, Joyce, and Sam for making us feel so special and celebrated!

We had a special visitor Monday! Beth Huggins came to award a generous grant on behalf of the Clinton Anderson Hospital Foundation.

Fun fact: Beth was Child Enrichment’s very first Development Director and has supported Child Enrichment in a variety of ways ever since! Her husband, Charles, is a member of our favorite band and Cookin’ for Kids entertainment- The Coveralls. Thank you to the Clinton Anderson Hospital Foundation for the generous grant and to Beth for all you have done to get Child Enrichment where we are today!

When I’m not prequalifying borrowers and closing mortgage loans, you can find me slapping the bass around town in a band called The Coveralls. On September 25th we will be providing live music at the annual Cookin’ For Kids Oyster Roast hosted by Child Enrichment and the Exchange Club of Richmond County. They will be serving up steamed and roasted oysters, non-seafood entrees and sides, desserts, cold beer, and wine, and there will be a live auction and a raffle. Proceeds benefit local child victims of abuse, neglect, and exploitation who are served by Child Enrichment.

Thank you Child Enrichment for coming and sharing today about everything you do in the CSRA.

In the 2019-2020 year, Child Enrichment served 405 children. The CASA (court appointed special advocate) program trains community volunteers who are appointed by a judge to advocate for the best interests of an abused or neglected child involved in juvenile court deprivation proceedings.

A CASA volunteer protects a child's right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to learn and grow in the safe embrace of a loving family.

Today we are proud to donate $1️⃣0️⃣,0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ to this organization who provides so much for children and families in our community.

Child Enrichment pulls children out of abuse and neglect and introduces them into an unfamiliar world involving law enforcement, social workers and foster care. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and several fundraisers are underway to assist the organization in its work.

Community Resources

Amped Kids offer FREE Music lessons to foster children and children in the DFCS system and it covers the cost of the musical instrument, lessons and instruction materials. They offer a convenient lesson schedule to accommodate the demands of foster families. The lesson programs consists of 30 minute lessons every other week for one year. After the completed year of instruction, there is an evaluation to see the child’s progress and see if the child is interested in continuing musical studies.

They also provide foster group homes with private lessons or group music lessons.
