Today at 0700 marked the final shift for Battalion Chief Jason Farris as he retires from Augusta Fire after more than 25 years of dedicated service.

Battalion Chief Farris began his career with Augusta Fire on May 7, 2001, and was promoted to Battalion Chief of A Shift on February 19, 2014.

Chief Farris leaves behind a wealth of knowledge and experience in the fire service and was a respected leader. He cared deeply about his shift, our department, and the community we serve. Whether it was something small around the station or something much bigger on scene, our department could always count on Chief Farris.

His leadership, dedication, hard work, and commitment to Augusta Fire and the City of Augusta have made a lasting impact. He will truly be missed by the members of our department.

We want to sincerely thank Chief Farris for more than 25 years of hardworking and dedicated service. We wish him nothing but the best in this next chapter and hope he enjoys every minute of a well deserved retirement.

Thank you, Chief, for your leadership, dedication and commitment to our department and city. You will be missed!

IAFF Local 1650, in partnership with the Augusta Fire Honor Guard, invites members of the public, public safety community, veterans, and any of those wishing to attend to join us in remembering the events of September 11, 2001.

Please join us as we honor the 2,977 lives lost, including firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, and civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.

This ceremony is an opportunity for our community to come together, remember the lives lost, recognize the courage and sacrifice of our nation’s first responders, and ensure that the events of September 11, 2001, are never forgotten.

🔥 Congratulations to the MFSI/RAFT Fire Officer II Class of 2026! 🔥

This past month has been an incredibly busy one at the Maine Fire Service Institute (MFSI), so we're a little behind in sharing this well-deserved recognition!

First and foremost, THANK YOU to the outstanding team at RAFT911 for partnering with MFSI to deliver another exceptional Fire Officer II program. Your professionalism, expertise, and commitment to the fire service helped make this program a tremendous success.

This class also provided an important opportunity for three senior members of the MFSI staff to complete their Fire Officer II Professional Qualifications certification, further strengthening our ability to serve Maine's fire service.

Most importantly, we extend our sincere congratulations to every member of the Fire Officer II Class of 2026 who earned their Pro Board Fire Officer II Certification! Your commitment to professional development and leadership will have a lasting impact on your departments, your communities, and the firefighters you serve.

👏 Congratulations to members representing:

🚒 Topsham Fire Department🚒 Waterville Fire Department🚒 Augusta Fire Department🚒 Wells Fire Department🚒 Hollis Fire Department🚒 S**o Fire Department🚒 Buxton Fire Department🚒 Mount Desert Fire Department🚒 Union Fire Department🚒 Portland Fire Department.
