Eleven individuals and teams are being recognized for bringing Growth, Engagement and Support to life across Kern County — from student champions and innovative educators to school leaders and programs making a meaningful difference. Honorees are from Taft Union High School District, Kernville Union School District, Norris School District, Delano Union, Kern High School District, and KCSOS. 📚 One hour a week can make a lasting difference for a young reader. The Kern County Community Reading Project is looking for volunteers to work one-on-one with local second-graders, helping them strengthen their reading skills and build confidence. Volunteers commit just one hour a week, working with students in 15-minute sessions. Volunteer training is scheduled for Sept. 10, from 9 am to 11 am, at the Bell Tower Plaza.
