Nelson County Extension Our mission is to make a difference in the lives of Kentucky citizens through research-based education.

Our mission, simply stated, is to make a difference in the lives of Kentucky citizens through research-based education. Jointly with our other land-grant partner, Kentucky State University, we take the University to the people in their local communities, addressing issues of importance of all Kentuckians.

The Nelson County Cooperative Extension Kentucky Extension Homemakers Association members are such an asset to our community. We truly value the positive impact they make through their volunteer service and leadership. Contact our office at 502-348-9204 to find out how you can join this amazing organization!

“We’re not just a bunch of old ladies who knit and bake cookies.”👵🍪

That was the memorable line shared by Julie Bradford as she visited Nelson County Fiscal Court on behalf of the Nelson County Homemakers Association and it was a fitting introduction to the incredible work this group continues to do in our community.

Julie presented a commemorative check recognizing an outstanding milestone: more than 23,000 volunteer hours given back to Nelson County.

Those hours represent years of service and dedication across a wide range of local efforts, including support at events such as Ag Day, the Nelson County Fair, and many other programs that strengthen families, support education, and help keep our community connected.

We are deeply grateful for the Homemakers and the countless ways they show up for Nelson County. Their work may not always seek attention, but its impact is seen and felt throughout our community every day.

Thank you to the Nelson County Homemakers!

Oh what fun we had today at the Bardstown Farmers Market POP Club! We explored seeds, took part in a wonderful story walk and explored mindfulness activities. Youth then earn POP Bucks to spend with our vendors. A special thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors who make this program possible!
