Ok residents and supporters! We made the challenge and have time to meet the demand! Time to dethrone Rolling Fork Fire Department and show the south end how we do it in the central part of the county!!! We accept donations all year long for WHAS Crusade for Children and stay turned for a head to head competition coming!!!

For the fifth consecutive year, Rolling Fork Fire Department proudly brought in the highest fundraising total for the WHAS Crusade for Children in Nelson County.

At last night’s County-wide Chiefs Meeting, the challenge was officially issued.

Every fire department in Nelson County has accepted the challenge to see who will be crowned the top Crusade fundraiser for 2027. While we’re proud of what Rolling Fork has accomplished, we know every department shares the same goal—raising as much money as possible for the children and families served by the Crusade.

The planning has already begun. Fundraisers are being organized. Friendly competition is underway.

Who will take home the title in 2027?

Tonight, members of Nelson County Fire & Rescue participated in training focused on Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) operations and firefighter emergency procedures.

During the training, crews learned about MAYDAY situations, when and how to properly declare a MAYDAY, and the critical information that must be communicated to ensure a rapid and effective rescue response. Members also had the opportunity to put their knowledge into action by practicing RIT evolutions and rescue scenarios.

Continuous training like this helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to respond when one of our own is in need. Great work by everyone who participated and committed their time to improving safety and readiness.

🚨 PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE 🚨

Nelson County Fire & Rescue was recently contacted by a concerned citizen who reported that two individuals were going door-to-door representing themselves as Nelson County firefighters. According to the report, they were driving a white sedan and offering to conduct a "home safety inspection" and show a fire safety video inside residents' homes.

We want to make it very clear that Nelson County Fire & Rescue DOES NOT go door-to-door asking citizens to watch fire safety videos in their homes. Any fire safety education, home safety inspections, or public education programs conducted by our department are provided only upon request by the resident, business, or organization.

If someone approaches your home claiming to be from Nelson County Fire & Rescue and they are not in department uniform or arriving in a clearly marked Nelson County Fire & Rescue vehicle, please use extreme caution. Do not invite them into your home, do not provide personal information, and contact the Nelson County Sheriff's Office immediately.

The Sheriff's Office has been notified and is actively checking the area where the complaint was reported.

We are sorry that individuals may be attempting to misrepresent themselves in our community. If you are ever in doubt about someone's identity or intentions, err on the side of caution and contact law enforcement.

At Nelson County Fire & Rescue and Nelson County Sheriff's Office, KY , scene safety is always a top priority. Traffic control devices help reduce vehicle speeds through work zones, provide warning of hazards ahead, and create a safer environment for crews operating on busy roadways. Whether we're working a motor vehicle accident, fire, or other emergency, these measures help ensure everyone goes home safely.
