Nelson County Fire hosted another first responders day again this year. It was a perfect day for it. This wouldn't have been possible without the help from Bardstown Rotory Club, Lowes, Candy Massaroni, Jimmy Higdon, Bounce Around Springfield, The Kurtz's, Nelson County Beef Cattle Association, Nelson County Fair Board, Bourbon Town Bakes, and Crown Entertainment. Also a special thank you to the Nelson County Fire Auxiliary Group and everyone who helped set it up and cleaned it all!!

🚒 Nelson County Tanker Task Force 💧

When the call comes for a large fire requiring a sustained water supply, the Nelson County Tanker Task Force answers.

Every fire department across Nelson County stands ready to send tanker apparatus and personnel, ensuring a continuous water supply to support firefighting operations where hydrants are limited or unavailable. Through a coordinated tanker shuttle, thousands of gallons of water can be delivered every hour to keep crews supplied and the attack moving forward.

The Tanker Task Force is more than trucks and equipment—it's a commitment to teamwork. It demonstrates how every department puts aside district lines and comes together with one common purpose: protecting the people, homes, businesses, and property of Nelson County.

Whether it's a structure fire, industrial incident, or large-scale emergency, our firefighters work as one team because that's what our community deserves.

One County. One Team. One Mission. 🚒💦

Big shout out to our former Assistant Chief! Best wishes on your retirement Sir!

Today is the last shift for Captain Trevor Mattingly as he officially retires. Captain Mattingly started with Bardstown-Nelson County Volunteer Fire Department in 2003 as a volunteer firefighter. In 2005, he was hired full time as a Mechanic/firefighter Monday-Friday. Trevor made the rank of Assistant Chief on the Bardstown-Nelson County Volunteer Fire Department before the split in 2015. Trevor was instrumental in the development and implementation of the full-time fire department in 2015. Trevor would go on to lead Platoon 2 for the next 11 years. We appreciate the 23 years of service that he has given to the Bardstown Fire Department, the Bardstown and Nelson County communities, and to the development of his staff. His leadership, his knowledge and his skills will be greatly missed. Thank you for all that you have done.
