**After a brief ride along he decided he'd rather continue his normal job of protecting his family from squirrels and the like. He was very well behaved and the Chief will write him a letter of refence any time. He's back home with his family!**

Does this sweet guy belong to you? He showed up and wanted to put in an application. Unfortunately we are not hiring at this time. He chose to do a ride along instead. If he is yours could you call the PD to set up a time to pick him up. 307-568-2341.

Congratulations Sheriff Blackburn! A well earned and deserved honor!

**Law Enforcement is clear of this location.

On January 2nd, 2026 the Basin Police Department along with multiple other local and State agencies responded to a reported shooting. The victim has been transported by air to a higher level of care. All suspects have been identified and there is no ongoing threat to public safety. We would ask the public to avoid the area of South 8th and Holdredge as officers conduct their investigation. Thank you for your understanding.
