Acclaimed science fiction and fantasy author Yoon Ha Lee will join LSU Professor Emeritus Carl Freedman for a discussion of Lee’s latest work, Code and Codex, next Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Main Library at Goodwood.

Copies of Code and Codex will be available for purchase and autographing by Lee.

🎶 Artist Spotlight: Xavie Shorts 🎶

Baton Rouge native Xavie Shorts discovered his love for singing in church at just eight years old. Since then, he has turned his passion for music into a way to inspire others, sharing soulful songs about hope, resilience and overcoming life’s challenges.

From performing at gospel and soul music events across the South to recording his own music, Xavie uses his talent to uplift others. He describes music as a form of therapy, turning personal struggles and loss into powerful messages of positivity and healing.

Drawing from his work with heirloom crops, agricultural biodiversity, and climate resilience, Chris will explore why saving and sharing seeds matters—and how ordinary gardeners can help preserve the incredible diversity of our food.
