Over the past weekend, Brady's Run held one of four "Rabid Raccoon" races. The races included a 5k, 2 half marathons, a 100k, a 100-miler, and different relay races. One of our seniors, Nicolas Miller, competed in 3 of those races.

Over the span of 36 hours, Nick ran a total of 29.3 miles. He ran a 5k on Friday night, a half marathon on Saturday morning and a half marathon starting at midnight. For the 5k, Nick won first place (in the male category and overall) with a time of 19 minutes and 12 seconds. Less than 12 hours later, he then won second place in his first half marathon with a time of 1:51:33. In the "Midnight Half Marathon", he took off ahead of his opponents to give himself a good lead. Nick kept that lead the whole time, and finished first in the male category and overall with a time of 1:59:18. Nick ended off the night with 6 combined medals from all 3 races.

We could not be more proud of Nick. His accomplishments are proof of the grit, determination, and work ethic he consistently displays. Nick leads by example, pushing himself to excel and inspiring those around him through his dedication, discipline, and commitment to success. Congratulations Nick!!

On Thursday of this week, cadets held their required Service Learning Project (SLP) where cadets spent a day working with 6th-grade students to introduce them to the different teams and opportunities available through the program.

The different stations included: the Raider Relay, Drill (discipline), Honorguard, Colorguard, and Drum n Fife. We had the barrel game which is a fun activity where kids linked arms and tried to pull each other into the barrel. We also had another bonding game called the "Minefield". This game is where one kid would have their eyes closed, and others would have to give commands to avoid the mines.

Kids were taught about teamwork, leadership, physical fitness, and the skills required to succeed on each team. It was a rewarding experience that helped build connections between the cadets and the next generation of potential team members. It was overall a huge success between happy kids and cadets. The energy and participation that the kids brought was through the roof. We thank all of the teachers who helped and gave us the opportunity to teach.

Through hard work, leadership, and dedication, Cadet Sergeant Major Madelyn Silbaugh earned an Army ROTC scholarship to continue her education at the college level. The scholarship recognizes her commitment to academic excellence, service, and leadership both in and out of the classroom. As she begins this next chapter, she carries with her the values and lessons learned through the program while preparing to lead and serve with honor in the future. This accomplishment serves as an inspiration to fellow cadets and reflects the values of honor, integrity, selfless service, and perseverance. We could not be more proud of everything Madelyn's done, and cannot wait to see where it takes her!

This morning, cadets proudly marched in the Memorial Day Parade, honoring the courageous heroes who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day. The cadets were honored to march with pride, precision, and unwavering patriotism as they reflected the values of duty, honor, service, and respect. They marched alongside veterans, active-duty service members, and community members in remembrance of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the United States. As American flags lined the town and patriotic music filled the air, the cadets stood as a reminder that the legacy of our fallen heroes will never be forgotten.

After the marching part was over, select few broke off and went to extend the honor in the cemetery. The color-guard lined up, and presented the American and State flag as the National Anthem played. After our guest speakers were done, honor-guard then marched in and raised the American flag above the tomb, with deep remembrance and gratitude as TAPS were playing.

We could not be more thankful to live in the freedom we do. The sacrifices that were made will never be forgotten.

This evening, we held our annual spring picnic for our JROTC cadets! This picnic is not only a fun event, but it's also a way to show our leadership, teamwork, and growth throughout the year. The picnic included sand volleyball, hacky sack, delicious food, and awards. Some awards didn't come in time for military ball, so they were given here. Congratulations to all cadets awarded. This picnic always brings kids together and we love to see it.

We would like to thank the Parent Support Group for providing the food, and helping the picnic go smoothly. It's been an honor to have the one and only, Mrs Fleming, as president for the past 3 years. We're so grateful for all she has done and the impact she's had. JROTC welcomes the new upcoming president, Mrs Uphold, with open arms. We look forward to continue growing the program with her.

This evening, several of our senior cadets were awarded for their excellence. Cadets were awarded for enlistment, academics, athletics, and their majors in college. A new record of 8 people total enlisting in the military at Beaver, and 6 being involved in JROTC. As these seniors move into their future plans, we hope for nothing but the best and are so grateful for everything they've done in and for the program.
