👟 Youth Running Club 👟

It's almost that time! On Tuesday and Thursday mornings in June & July, we will be having our Youth Running Club at the Parkview Track!

There are some papers to sign beforehand, so stop by the Parks Department to get your kids signed up before our first day on Tuesday, June 2nd. Let's get moving! 🏃🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

City of Bedford Offices will be closed on Election Day, Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

✅ All Tuesday trash routes will be picked up as regularly scheduled on Tuesday, May 5th.

🟨 Compost will be picked up Wednesday, May 6th.

Due to the forecast for this evening, we are going to go ahead and cancel all pickleball games tonight!

🌳 Arbor Day 2026 🌳

This morning, we helped plant a tree at Parkview Intermediate in recognition of Arbor Day. The location of the tree was picked by Carissa Matlock, the overall winner of our 2026 Arbor Day Poster Contest! 🎨

Thank you so much to our community partners who gave the presentations in schools, Spice Valley for donating the tree, the school staffs for helping get things set up this year, and most importantly, the students who submitted their drawings! We hope everyone has a beautiful Arbor Day today! 🌲☀️

🌲 Arbor Day Poster Contest 2026 🌲

This year's theme was "Trees & Pollinators Make Perfect Partners", and we had submissions from 5th grade students all over the county! 🐝

With 4 total schools participating, we had to make some hard decisions to pick winners from each school, as well as one overall winner. Here were our picks (pictures in order):

Carissa Matlock - Parkview (Overall Winner)

Rebecca Wu - St. Vincent de Paul

Caroline Cessna - Burris

Olivia Swing - Shawswick

In observance of Arbor Day tomorrow and in honor of our overall winner, we will be doing a tree planting at Parkview in the morning. Look out for tomorrow's post highlighting that fun! 🏕️
