Notice of Low-Income Election for One Seat on Board of Directors

We are currently in the nomination period for the upcoming Low-Income Election for one vacant seat on the Board of Directors. If you or someone you know is interested in joining WCAP's Board of Directors as one of its Low-Income Sector representatives, we encourage you to complete this nomination form by 4:30pm on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

There is one open seat, joining 17 other individuals in our Board's Public and Private Sectors to govern our organization. The individuals who complete this nomination form and receive the most votes when the voting period opens will receive a seat on the WCAP Board of Directors for a 3-year term on the Low-Income Sector of our Board of Directors.

Voting will be completed by individuals served by WCAP, whose incomes have been verified as low according to the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Low-Income Sector Involvement: In order to qualify as a representative of the Low-Income Sector on WCAP's Board of Directors, the elected representative need not be low-income themselves but must represent and provide a voice for the low-income community in some way. They must also reside within WCAP's service area.

Our thoughts are with our community this afternoon as we learn more from the scene of Robbins Lumber in Searsmont. For people directly impacted, we are especially thinking of you. In small communities like Waldo County, events such as what unfolded in Searsmont today have a deep and lasting impact. Even we have staff who in their spare time are firefighters and first responders in their home towns, and we know today was traumatic for some of them and for many of you. We also know that in small communities like ours, tragedies such as this tend to move us to action to help those affected, and today is no exception. In the past few hours, we have already witnessed many caring community members asking what they can do - ready to jump to lend a hand, to support those still on the scene, and to rally around families facing sudden and new challenges. We may not have all the answers yet, but surely in the days ahead, there will be opportunities to come together to act and remind people that we are one community. We will be here with you, ready to act, ready to support.
