I was proud to join the Perinatal Health Equity Initiative for an important conversation centered on the experiences of Black mothers and birthing people across Essex and Union Counties earlier this week.

Listening directly to mothers, doulas, community health workers, healthcare providers, advocates, and community leaders is essential to understanding where our systems are falling short, and what we can do to make meaningful change.

Health equity requires listening to the people most impacted and bringing their voices into the rooms where policies and budgets are decided.

Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences, raised their voices, and continues to advocate for healthier outcomes for New Jersey families.

Yesterday, I was proud to join advocates and community leaders at Planned Parenthood in Montclair for the signing of A2218, legislation that strengthens protections for those accessing and providing reproductive health care.
At a time when reproductive freedom is under attack across the country, New Jersey continues to lead by protecting access to safe, legal health care and standing up for the rights of every person seeking care.
Proud to be part of a New Jersey that protects health, safety, and reproductive freedom. 💙
