VES Annual End-of-the-Year Water Balloon Fight 💦☀️🎈

A few staff members ended up getting buckets of water dumped on them by students today 😭😂

Today was our students’ last day of school, and we’re already going to miss them so much. Thank you for all the laughs, memories, and moments that made this year special. ❤️

Four students from Voyageurs Expeditionary School competed in the annual MAAP STARS conference May 7-8 in Mankato, bringing home several accolades.

May 29th at 10:30 am 🌟 End of the Year Picnic and 8th Grade Graduation! E-Week presentations will be set up in the MS. A picnic lunch will be served at 11 AM. Taco in a bag with all the fixings, and cake for dessert. Students may leave after lunch if they are accompanied by their guardian. Hope to see you there!

VES students had the opportunity to learn about Nigig (otter) teachings last week with Michael Smith. They explored Ojibwe creation story teachings and learned how the nigig plays an important role in supporting Ojibwe lodge keepers. 🦦🙌

We opened with ceremony and offered asema, food to the nigig, honoring their life and the gifts their fur has provided for our people. Students were able to deepen their understanding of culture, teachings, and also learn hands-on skills, including how to skin a nigig in a respectful and traditional way. ❤

Miigwech to Michael Smith and the LLBO Gidinawendimin Language & Culture Project for holding space and giving students this meaningful opportunity to learn and connect.

VES Cuyuna Bike Expedition Trip 🚲🏕️🙌🏽
Last week, students had the opportunity to explore the beauty of the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area while building their biking skills and confidence. They learned different riding techniques, challenged themselves on the trails, and gained a deeper appreciation for the land.

From camping and cooking together to supporting one another on and off the trails, this trip was all about connection, growth, and being present in the moment. So proud of these students for stepping outside their comfort zones and making unforgettable memories! 🌲✨
