We are 30% of the way to our goal!! Thank you to everyone who has reached out to learn more about fostering and to those special three families who will be opening their doors to foster children soon!

And, thank you to everyone who has shared on social media, invited us to speak, or connected us with someone who is interested in fostering!

This is what we can do when we pull together as a community!

We still need to find 7 new foster families before the end of the year. Maybe you’re wondering who exactly you should reach out to with info about fostering. Here are some ideas!

-Friends who you know care about children’s well being (whether or not they’ve parented or talked about fostering).

- Groups and organizations you’re a member of. Mention it at the beginning of your next pickle ball game, board game night, happy hour, book club, or any other gathering!

- Church members, before, during, or after the service, or print out our info sheet and put it on the bulletin board! everhope.org/10-family-challenge

- Family members, both those who have and have not parented

- Colleagues, especially when the focus is on giving back to the community

- Neighbors who care about their community

Bottom line: there are children in NWA who need us, and everyone can help, whether it’s by becoming a foster parent themselves or by spreading the word more widely.

A lot of the kids staying at EverHope's Emergency Shelter are more grown up than you might think! And they want the same stuff for the holidays that teenagers everywhere want.

🏆 Sunday shout-out 🏆

EverHope couldn’t support our children and families without the ever-present support of our incredible volunteers. There are far too many to acknowledge, even in a lifetime of Sundays, but we’re going to make a start! Every Sunday, we’ll be sharing a little bit about one (or a group!) of our dedicated volunteers.

Today’s stellar volunteer is … Pat!

Pat helps out with many of our on- and off-site events, but the thing we love the most is that she brings her passion and skill for the garden to our community multiple times a week! Kids participate in planting, watering, and weeding under Pat’s knowledgeable guidance. Then, they get the ultimate payoff — harvest! And, the whole EverHope family benefits when Chef Joe serves up fresh produce for meals. Thank you, Pat!

🌟Impact and inspiration 🌟

There’s a lot you can understand with numbers. But some things are harder to quantify — like the difference it makes in a kid’s day when they can talk to someone who cares while riding a bike around or rocking in an outdoor rocking chair.

EverHope’s on-site counselor, Kelly, says she sees the positive impact it has when kids can see her as often as they need without having to wait for her to come to an appointment. If there’s a particularly rough day or a struggle in class, she’s there to take a walk around our 82-acre campus and talk it through.

And, she says, fresh air, sunshine, and movement are a bonus therapy session all on their own!

Interested in fostering, but not quite ready for a full-time placement?

There are different ways to open your home, and we can help you explore your options:

1. Traditional fostering — Provide longer-term, day-to-day care, encouragement, and stability for a child while a permanent plan is developed.

2. Emergency fostering — Be a safe, welcoming place when a child needs care on short notice. These placements are generally brief.

3. Respite fostering — Care for a child for a short, planned period while their full-time foster family takes a break or attends to other responsibilities.

What does it look like to connect a community to a mission?

For Courtney Voigt, EverHope Chief Development Officer, it means building relationships, creating opportunities to give, and, most importantly, staying close to the children and families at the heart of the work.

In the latest issue of Celebrate Arkansas, Courtney shares what inspires her, reflects on a record-setting Vintner Dinner, and talks about how EverHope is growing to meet the needs of children in foster care across Northwest Arkansas.

As Chief Development Officer for EverHope Children’s Shelter, Courtney Voigt helps connect the community with an organization serving children from birth to 18. She oversees fundraising, donor engagement, grants, corporate partnerships, events, and community engagement, while leading a team that helps raise the roughly $5 million EverHope needs each year beyond state contracts. For all the strategy and relationship-building her role requires, Voigt says some of the most rewarding parts of the job happen in the everyday moments with the kids: sharing meals, attending field days, watching basketball games, and participating in cooking classes with Youth Care staff: “Getting those genuine moments with the kids and being part of moments of joy are incredibly meaningful. When I think about kids who have been impacted by trauma and are in foster care, many times it is one person investing in them and really listening who can make the biggest difference in their lives.”
