PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE

The City of Benwood will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 4:45 PM at the City Building, 430 Main Street, Benwood, West Virginia, to present and discuss the Phase IV and Phase V Combined Sewer System Improvements Project.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide information regarding the proposed sewer system improvements, including the project scope, estimated costs, funding sources, anticipated impacts, and overall project benefits to the community.

Representatives from the City and Project Engineer, Burgess & Niple, Inc., will be available to answer questions and receive public comments regarding the proposed improvements.

Beginning Monday, August 31, city crews will smoke test sewers in South Benwood from 13th Street south, including High Street, to the city limits. The smoke is non-toxic. To help prevent smoke from entering your home, fill floor drains and traps with water. If you have any questions, please contact the clerk's office at (304) 232-4320.

Benwood City Clerks Office will be closed from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Friday June 5, 2026, so staff can attend City Attorney Eric Gordon Funeral services.

Eric Gordon of Berry, Kessler, Crutchfield, Taylor & Gordon passed away Tuesday June 2, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the City of Benwood's city attorney for over 20 years and a great friend to everyone who knew him. Our hearts and prayers go out to Eric's family and associates.
