💙 DID YOU KNOW? | We Need Our Community's Support

Like many individuals and families in our community, the Bingham County Senior Citizens Center is feeling the effects of rising costs.

Despite our name, we are not owned or operated by Bingham County or the City of Blackfoot. We are an independent, privately operated nonprofit organization that relies heavily on community support.

The cost of food, utilities, transportation, supplies, and everyday operations continues to increase. While we are grateful for the funding and support we do receive, it does not cover the full cost of providing our programs and services.

At the same time, many of the seniors we serve live on fixed incomes and are experiencing those same financial challenges. Our goal is to continue providing affordable meals, essential services, and opportunities for connection without placing additional financial burdens on those who depend on us.

But we cannot do it alone.

We understand that rising costs are affecting everyone, and we recognize that not everyone is in a position to give. However, if you are able, we are asking for your help.

Every donation, no matter the amount, makes a difference. Your contributions help us continue providing:

🍽️ Affordable, nutritious meals
🚗 Meals on Wheels for homebound seniors
❤️ Social connections and wellness opportunities
🎉 Activities, education, and community programs

💙 HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Whether you're able to donate $5, $10, $25, or more, every contribution helps us continue fulfilling our mission.

Financial donations aren't the only way to help! Volunteering, participating in our fundraisers, donating items, and sharing our posts are all meaningful ways to support our mission.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful community behind us. Your generosity helps us continue serving those who need us, and we are grateful for every contribution.

Together, we can continue making a difference. 💙

💙 LOOK INSIDE THE CENTER | Thank You, Bingham County!

Today, we simply want to say thank you.

As a nonprofit organization, so much of what we are able to do at the Bingham County Senior Citizens Center is possible because of the incredible support we receive from our community.

To our corporate sponsors and community partners who invest in our mission,

To our volunteers who give their time week after week,

To those who donate financially, participate in our fundraisers, or contribute toward a meal,

To everyone who brings us items for our thrift store and donation table,

And to everyone who answered our recent call for plastic grocery bags, 🛍️💙

Every contribution looks a little different, but every one of them matters.

We are incredibly fortunate to be part of a community that continues to show up for the Center and for the people we serve. As a nonprofit, we simply could not do what we do without you.

Whether you give your time, resources, talents, financial support, or simply help spread the word about what we do, you are part of what makes this Center possible.

From all of us at the Bingham County Senior Citizens Center, thank you for supporting our mission and our community. 💙

❤️ MEALS ON WHEELS WEDNESDAY | We Need Your Help

The funding available to the Bingham County Senior Citizens Center for home-delivered meals has been reduced, resulting in a waitlist for eligible seniors needing Meals on Wheels services.

This funding already covers only a small portion of what it actually costs us to prepare and deliver each meal, and these meals serve some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Our Meals on Wheels recipients are homebound. They cannot independently leave their homes to come to the Center for a meal or social connection.

For them, Meals on Wheels provides so much more than food. Each delivery brings:

🍽️ Nutrition
❤️ Human connection
💙 A wellness check
🏡 Support for remaining independent at home

As funding for home-delivered meals decreases, we need our community’s help to fill the gap.

Help us End the Wait. Donate today to support Meals on Wheels for homebound seniors in our community.

Ways to donate:
💵 Bring cash or a check to the Center
✉️ Mail a check to the Bingham County Senior Citizens Center
📲 Venmo

Please note “Meals on Wheels” with your donation so we know where you would like your support directed.

Every donation, no matter the amount, helps us continue bringing meals and connection to homebound seniors in our community. ❤️

💡 DID YOU KNOW? | There’s Always Something Happening!

Did you know the Bingham County Senior Citizens Center offers activities throughout the week? 💙

While meals are an important part of what we do, the Center is also a place to move, connect, socialize, and have some fun!

Depending on the day, you might find people participating in:

🏐 Chair Volleyball
💪 Fit & Fall
🎶 Zumba
👢 Line Dancing
🃏 Card Games
🎲 Games & Dominoes
🎱 Bingo
…and more!

Some come for the exercise. Some come for the games. Some come to see friends, and plenty of people come for a little bit of everything!

These activities aren’t just about filling the calendar, either. Staying active, learning something new, laughing together, and having regular opportunities to connect with others are all part of what makes the Center a community and activities center.

💙 You don’t have to come for lunch to come participate in an activity! If you’ve been curious about what’s happening inside the Center, we’d love to have you stop in and join us.

Check out our activities and upcoming events on our calendar!

🔎 LOOK INSIDE THE CENTER | Education Can Help Protect You

The Bingham County Senior Citizens Center is about more than meals and activities. Education is also an important part of our mission. 💙

As scams become increasingly common and convincing, knowing what to watch for can make a big difference. That’s why we’re excited to welcome The Bank of Commerce to the Center next week for a presentation on Tips for Avoiding Fraud & Scams.

📅 Tuesday, September 22
⏰ 10:30 AM
📍 Bingham County Senior Citizens Center

Anyone is welcome to join us for this class! Whether you’re a regular at the Center or have never visited before, we’d love to have you.

The Bank of Commerce will be sharing helpful information and practical tips for recognizing common scams, protecting your personal information, and knowing what to do when something just doesn’t seem right.

Programs like this are one of the ways we work to provide opportunities for our community to learn, stay informed, and access helpful resources.

A big thank you to The Bank of Commerce for taking the time to share this information with our community! 💙

❤️ Meals on Wheels Wednesday | More Than a Meal

When we say Meals on Wheels is more than a meal, the few minutes spent at the door are a perfect example of what we mean. 💙

Our Meals on Wheels drivers aren't simply dropping off food. Each delivery provides an opportunity to say hello, make contact, and make sure things seem okay with the senior receiving the meal.

For someone who is homebound, that friendly face at the door can be an important connection, and sometimes the only person they see that day.

If a driver notices something concerning during a delivery, they can let Center staff know so we can determine whether additional follow-up may be needed.

🍽️ Nutrition
👋 Social connection
❤️ A friendly wellness check
🏡 Support for independence

All wrapped into one delivery.

That's why Meals on Wheels has always been about so much more than what's inside the meal container. It's about making sure our homebound seniors know their community is still there for them. ❤️

And of course, none of this would be possible without our incredible Meals on Wheels drivers! Whether they have a regular route or step in as a substitute when we need an extra hand, our drivers do so much more than transport meals from the Center to someone's doorstep. They bring a smile, a friendly conversation, and a familiar face to the seniors they visit. We are incredibly grateful for the time, care, and compassion each of our drivers gives to our homebound seniors and our community. Thank you for helping us make every delivery more than a meal! 💙
