Another day, another ridiculous idea out of Albany. Now the Democrats want to cover the surface of our rivers and lakes with floating solar panels. We fought to reduce plastics in our environment, but to float solar panels on the surface of our drinking water across the state they will cover that drinking water with, you guessed it, solar panels floating on plastic. Ridiculous! I voted no.

Today, the New York State Senate passed legislation I created in 2021 to officially recognize March 21st as Down Syndrome Awareness Day in New York State. After bringing this bill to the floor for the third time, I am proud to see it move forward. People with Down Syndrome enrich our communities, our schools, and our lives every single day, and they deserve to be celebrated.

Now that warmer weekends are here, it is the perfect time to fire up the grill and enjoy the outdoors! Before you do, here are a few important safety tips to keep your cookout fun and worry free.

⚫Keep the grill out in the open, away from the house, deck, tree branches, or anything that could catch fire
⚫Never grill indoors, not in the house, camper, tent, or any enclosed area
⚫Don't leave food out in the hot sun. Keep perishable foods in a cooler with plenty of ice or freezer gel packs
⚫Make sure everyone, including pets, stays away from the grill
⚫Never add charcoal starter fluid when coals have already been ignited

Stay safe, enjoy the sunshine, and have a great summer!

Albany Democrats have delivered another bloated, out-of-touch budget that falls far short of what hardworking New Yorkers deserve. With $268 billion dollars, just imagine what we could deliver if all 213 members worked together toward a common goal! Instead, here is what we got. Below are just a few highlights from a budget that has far more to unpack.

Here is what is wrong with this budget:

1. Does nothing to address the real affordability crisis facing New Yorkers
2. Medicaid spending up 89% since Hochul took office with no comprehensive independent audit - zero concern for rampant waste, fraud and abuse
3. New York for All which bans state and local law enforcement from cooperating with federal law enforcement
4. Violates the Supremacy Clause in the U.S. Constitution by seeking to use state law to regulate federal law enforcement
5. $100 energy "rebate" credit instead of reining in skyrocketing energy costs
6. No reform on cashless bail, discovery laws, or the Green Light Law (allows anyone in New York age 16 and older to apply for a standard, non-commercial driver's license or learner's permit regardless of their citizenship or lawful immigration status)

Here is what we fought for and won:

1. EV Bus mandate delayed
2. CLCPA delayed
3. School Foundation Aid is fully funded
4. Tier 5 and 6 Reformed
5. No tax on tips (up to $25,000)

These are just a few highlights. We will never stop fighting for a budget that truly puts hardworking New York families first.

Fighting for Long Island’s fair share

05/27/2026

New York does not have a revenue problem. We have a spending problem. Today I voted no on a budget bill that doubles down on taxing and spending while other states are cutting costs and making life more affordable for their residents.
