Throughout Memorial Day week, we had the honor of joining communities across Boston as we paused to remember those who gave their lives in service to our nation.

Memorial Day is observed in our neighborhoods, in our memorials, in our cemeteries, in our veterans organizations, and in the people who continue to ensure the sacrifices of our fallen are never forgotten.

Standing alongside families, veterans, volunteers, and community members in every neighborhood carries its own legacy of service and sacrifice.

Thank you to everyone who organized, volunteered, planted flags, adorned wreaths at our Hero’s Squares, cared for memorials, and took the time to honor our fallen heroes.

Their service gave us our freedoms, and our responsibility is to ensure their names and stories continue to live on for generations to come. We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day weekend, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible staff of Boston Veterans Services. 🇺🇸

Our team took time out of their own schedules these past few weekends to ensure our veterans and fallen heroes were honored with the dignity and respect they deserve.

From planting flags at veteran graves to decorating Hero Squares across our neighborhoods, they showed up because they understand what this weekend truly means.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is about remembrance. It is about honoring sacrifice. It is about ensuring that those who served and those who made the ultimate sacrifice are never forgotten.

I am grateful to work alongside a team that leads with heart, service, and commitment to our veteran community.

To the OVS team, thank you for honoring, respecting, and recognizing those who served our nation and the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

The Boston Vets (OVS) team showed up in full force to kick off Memorial Day month decorating Hero Squares across our neighborhoods.
We also stood shoulder to shoulder with our community at the annual Rolling Thunder Chapter 1 Blessing of the Bikes at the Gardens of Gethsemane in West Roxbury.
Rolling Thunder’s mission is to bring awareness to those who were left behind, our Prisoners of War and those still Missing in Action. Riders came in from across the country, from Ohio to Georgia.

This is what OVS is all about.

Yes, we connect veterans and their families to the benefits and services they’ve earned, but just as important, we show up. We honor. We remember.
We honor the names behind every Hero Square as living reminders of sacrifice.
We stand in sacred spaces like the Gardens with purpose.
And we make sure the service and sacrifice of our POW/MIA’s and heroes is not just recognized but never forgotten in the City of Boston.

Army Week 2026 is officially underway in Boston.

From the battle of Bunker Hill, the evacuation of Dorchester Heights, and even the first naval fight at Chelsea Creek, this city has always been part of our nation’s story. As we approach America 250, that history feels even more real and Boston is proud of its strong and enduring partnership with the U.S. Army.

Inside Faneuil Hall we witnessed 25 future Soldiers raise their right hand and take the oath to defend this nation. Standing in the same place where patriots once demanded freedom, now stepping forward to protect it.

Boston is proud to stand with our Army.
Proud to support our Soldiers and their families.
And proud to help shape the next generation who will wear the uniform.

This week come out and meet your Army. Get to know the people behind the uniform.

This is Boston.
Unapologetically patriotic.
And always showing up.
