WorldBoston's 17th annual Consuls Reception is coming up! This event honors the Consular Corps of New England and the essential role they play in connecting our region economically and culturally with the world.
We are especially pleased to welcome Rich Davey, President and CEO of Massport, as our keynote speaker. Overseeing Logan International Airport and the Port of Boston, Rich Davey leads the infrastructure that makes many of those global connections possible—making him an ideal voice to reflect on Boston’s international role and the importance of the Consular Corps in strengthening it. The next member of WorldBoston’s sports diplomacy Roster is Ryan Liss ⚾️🌎

Here, we’re switching things up a little. Ryan is on the baseball team at Babson college, and serves as a prime example that you don’t need a professional title to participate in sports diplomacy. Ryan recently had the opportunity to participate in the “Bond with Kulialang” China- U.S. Youth Baseball exhibition, where he met with provincial governors and ministry officials, but most importantly connected with Chinese athletes over sport. Check out Ryan’s Roster post see what he learned from the program that caught the attention of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The Roster isn’t limited to one kind of diplomat. At WorldBoston, we recognize that diplomacy comes in different shapes and sizes, reflecting not just a person’s expertise, but their tangible experiences. Do you want to be part of the action? Join our diplomacy network now.

The next member of WorldBoston’s sports diplomacy Roster is Alejandro Auffant ⚾️🌎

Originally from Puerto Rico, Alejandro has spent his whole life using sports as a way to bridge cultural divides. Currently, Alejandro works for the Boston Red Sox as their Government and Neighborhood affairs coordinator, connecting people geographically through their shared love of baseball. For Alejandro, sports have never been just about what happens on the field— they’re about the people, communities, and work that goes into making every moment possible.

The Roster is an initiative that will keep going strong. WorldBoston is proud to feature diplomatic leaders that make a difference in their communities using sport. Do you want to be part of the action? Join our diplomacy network now.

WorldBoston was delighted to join our partners at Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s CAPT Cuffe Global Institute as part of the World Leadership Program 2026.
On Monday, August 17, WorldBoston President and COO Sarah Sibley met with international cadets for an engaging conversation about global citizenship, encouraging them to think beyond borders, embrace different perspectives, and consider the role they can play as future leaders in an increasingly interconnected world.
At WorldBoston, we believe meaningful dialogue and cross-cultural exchange are essential to building stronger global connections. Through maritime diplomacy, opportunities like this bring international perspectives to Massachusetts, connect future leaders across borders, and create relationships that extend far beyond the classroom.
A special thank you to the CAPT Cuffe Global Institute and Massachusetts Maritime Academy for their continued partnership and for welcoming WorldBoston into this year’s program. We’re proud to work together to inspire the next generation of global leaders!
