Due to the recent fires, BCPH is actively working to determine how much of a health risk the current air quality poses.

There are several air monitoring stations in Boulder and Longmont that measure regional air quality which currently report the air quality to be moderate to good.

In the meantime, the safest course of action is to assume the air quality is poor in burn areas and areas immediately downwind. BCPH recommends the following precautions:

• Do not rely on paper dust masks found at hardware stores, they
are not designed to block the small particles generated by smoke.
• Keep windows and doors closed.
• If you have an air conditioner, run it, but make sure that the fresh
air intake vent is closed and the filter is clean. If not, turn the
system off.
• Evaporative cooling systems can also pull in air from the outside.
Consider using a portable evaporative cooler within your house to
avoid pulling air pollution into your house.
• If these remedies are not sufficient, you may want to relocate to
another location away from the smoke.

@XcelEnergyCO is working hard in #Boulder and expect power to be restored to all customers in the city tonight by approximately 6 p.m.

Crews will continue to work into the night to restore power to customers affected by the fires and windstorm. We expect nearly all customers who are able to accept power to have service restored yet tonight, with the exception of about 500 customers who lost service due to fire or today’s weather. Those outages are in areas with rugged terrain, which makes restoration more challenging, especially given weather conditions. Those customers are expected to have their service restored tomorrow. A sincere thanks to all of our customers for your patience and support of our crews as they worked to get the lights back on for everyone.
