Yet another year of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn in Crown Heights! On Saturday, our office presented a free day of music at Brower Park with BRIC, Rooftop Films, and the Brooklyn Arts Council — hosted by the Bklyn Mavens, sponsored by Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, and featuring Black House Radio, The Darkroom MCs, and the legendary Terry Hunter. We joined the picket line with public defenders at the Neighborhood Defender Service (NDS Union). While management rejects necessary cost-of-living adjustments, we will stand with these hard working public defenders every day.

These are public defenders representing low-income New Yorkers in criminal, family, housing, and immigration cases. They deserve a fair and just contract!

This is one of many strikes happening across the country, and we’re proud to support their cause.

ODB Jones Way is officially on Franklin and Putnam Avenue! Our office was proud to champion this street co-naming through the City Council in honor of Russell Tyrone Jones, the artist the world knew as Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

ODB was brilliant yet hilarious. Above all, he stayed unapologetically true to himself. Through Wu-Tang and as a solo artist, he created a sound that redefined what hip-hop could be. His impact is felt here in Bed-Stuy, across New York City, and around the world.

We can’t thank the family and estate of Mr. Jones enough. Long after all of us leave this earth, ODB Jones Way will still be standing.
