Today Assembly Member Jaime Williams and I attended the Veterans Day Virtual Ceremony live from Nick's Lobster. Millennium Development hosted the ceremony and the delicious meals were prepared by Nick's Lobster. Meals were also delivered to all Veterans who were not in attendance.

Veterans participated from as far as Tennessee.

We were joined virtually by our colleagues Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, Assembly Member Helene Weinstein, Council Members Alan Maisel and Farah Louis to pay honor to the forty-seven Veterans from nine Senior Centers serviced by Millennium Development.

Brooklyn Canarsie Lions Club members donated embroidered Veterans Day face masks for the Veterans.

Thank you to ALL Veterans for Your service to our nation.

The weather was nice today for our outdoor pop up food distribution. We distributed 400 boxes of food products including milk to constituents from across SD19. These USDA boxes were supplied by The Campaign Against Hunger.

My staff and I were assisted by volunteers from Canarsie Lions Club, Ms. Charise, Amar Dyal and his cousin Raymond and staff from Millennium Development.👍

Also on hand was Felicia a Health Insurance Specialist from EmblemHealth who not only spoke with constituents about health insurance coverage but helped to distribute the boxes without being asked.👏👏

Thank you to NYPD PSA 2, NYPD 69th Precinct, NYPD 75th Precinct & NYPD 73rd Precinct officers for collecting boxes and delivering to constituents in Canarsie, East NY and Brownsville. 👍

We also distributed face masks and hand sanitizer 😷

These masks were made by women and children who are survivors of Domestic Violence in Guyana 🇬🇾

We distributed the masks to children across Senate District 19 when we gave them their Halloween treat bags.

Thank you UBBM!

UBBM has partnered with me on Domestic Violence prevention events and will do so at our event scheduled for Saturday, November 21 (details will be posted shortly).

Bonita's son was on hand to help with the presentation and received his bag of treats.

The program applies to both homeowners and renters.

To apply, visit MyBenefits.NY.gov or call your local Department of Social Services or NYC Human Resources Administration.

Today, members of Canarsie Lions Club joined me at voting sites and distributed face masks, snacks and water to people waiting in line to vote. They also took snacks for the poll workers.

Thank you to my fellow Lions. #WeServe 🦁

I was also happy to sit and chat with Mrs Smith who came with her son and daughter to vote at the Vandalia Senior Center. She said that despite Arthur (arthritis) bothering her all week, he could not stop her from voting in person.👍👍
Mrs. Smith celebrated her 91st birthday in August and let us know that she is still celebrating. She has the birthday card that I sent her on her dresser.👌
