Discover the fantastic fungi at For-Mar during a series of Educational Field Experiences. Each experience includes an introduction on mushroom identification and focuses on identifying fungal species through the Seasons (not to identify mushrooms for edibility). Participants are encouraged to bring a small basket or mesh (fiber, not plastic) bag, tick/insect repellent, and to wear long pants and closed shoes during the hike.

Suggested for ages 16 and older.
Cost: Free

Beat the heat with us during this shady photo hike! Max Brandon is an Oak Savanna and has lots of plant life, including fun mushrooms. This monthly program is designed for beginners to professional photographers. Whether you have a digital camera or a phone, as long as you enjoy taking pictures, this hike is for you. This hike will be about 1.5 miles and is mostly paved with stops along the way.

Ages 16 and up, all abilities
Cost: $5 per person

During the last ice age, Michigan was home to many large and unusual mammals. Scientist Bill Heyworth will be here to lead you on a journey through time to learn about the mammals that may have lived right here in Michigan, like the American mastodon, American lion, and the giant beaver that was thought to weigh up to 600 pounds. See their fossils and get the chance to compare them to today’s relatives.

For ages 6 and up, great for all abilities.

Bring the kids (ages 8+) out for some FREE FAMILY FUN in the great outdoors at Bluegill Boat Launch!

Local union volunteers will provide hands-on introductions to fishing, BB guns, field dog training/retrieving, and other exciting activities. The first 400 kids will receive a fishing rod and reel to keep.

Organized by the Union Sportsmen's Alliance and UAW Local 659, this event is free and open to the public, but limited to the first 400 participants. No registration is required. All participants must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
