Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and PA State Rep.
Marci Mustello visited with four generations of the Kennedy family at Four Seasons Farm to tour their new facilities. The Kennedy's used their own funding along with 5 other funding sources to update the technology on their family dairy farm. The funding sources included, ACAP, PENNVEST, EQIP, PA Ag Innovation Grant, and the Center for Dairy Excellence.

The Butler NRCS service center is hosting a local work group meeting March 27 at 10:00. Members of the public interested in learning more and providing input on programs and conservation priorities are encouraged to attend. Scan the QR code to complete the survey prior to attending.

Allegheny County Conservation District is partnering with the Butler, Beaver, and Washington County Conservation Districts to present the 2026 Erosion Control Workshop.

7 webinars will be held on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 12:00 in February aiming to educate developers, engineers, municipalities, contractors, and consultants on environmental regulations for land development. Last Thursday, District staff assisted the DCNR and Western PA Conservancy plant 350 trees in a 1.75 ac riparian buffer on the BGN Farm in West Sunbury.

Our new pollinator garden at the park on Ash Stop Road in Forward Township is thriving! Stop on by and check it out! We ask that you please do not pick any flowers as we like to leave them for the pollinators and hope for them to reseed and grow back next year.

The Butler County Conservation District has partnered with local parks and schools to enhance biodiversity by increasing native plant species and phasing out traditional turf grass lawns.

Yesterday, BCCD hosted the Ideas to Implementation training where NRCS, Penn State Extension, HRG, and the District presented on programs and partnering for successful implementation of grant programs. In addition, the common hurdles we go through when it comes to getting ideas on the ground.

Attendants consisted of staff from Conservation Districts, NRCS offices, HRG, plan writers, R&R engineering, Penn State Extension, and PACD from counties all around. In the afternoon, attendants had the opportunity to tour one of Butler's largest agricultural projects under construction and how state/federal funds are being put to good use to address natural resource concerns.

The Pennsylvania Resources Council is offering 3 free Watersheds and Rain Barrels workshops to Butler residents. Attendants will have the opportunity to receive a free 55-gallon rain barrel and downspout diverter.
