Charlie Company, 1/507th Infantry and Marines attending Basic Airborne Course

Students exit a C-17 aircraft during a daylight iteration of the 3-day static line training cycle. These critical descents build the foundational skills required to enhance airborne lethality across the force.

This rigorous pipeline qualifies personnel for their silver jump wings while building the foundational pipeline for follow-on military free fall and paraloft assignments that directly project power at the organizational level.

School of Infantry–East proudly recognizes Sergeant Mills of Headquarters & Service Battalion and Corporal MartinezMora of Advanced Infantry Training Battalion for their outstanding performance during the rigorous six-week Intermediate Administrative Specialist Course.

Their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to excellence set them apart from their peers. As a result of their exceptional performance, both Marines earned the distinction of Top Performer within their respective classes—an achievement that reflects not only their individual work ethic but also the high standards upheld by their battalions and School of Infantry–East.

Our Marines in Charlie Co had a highly tactical and action-packed week in the field, with different specialized groups putting their unique skills to the test.

Here is a look at what they accomplished!

Specialty Group Training Event - What It Means:

Riflemen (0311) Patrolling & Tactics:
These Marines spent five days navigating the field day and night. They gathered intelligence, coordinated resupplies, conducted simulated ambushes, and finished the week with an intense platoon-vs-platoon exercise—one side defending a position while the other assaulted it.

Machine Gunners (0331) M240B Machine Gun Qualification:
Our machine gunners conducted live-fire qualifications, proving their accuracy and control with the powerful M240B medium machine gun.

Mortarmen (0341) 60mm Mortar Qualification:
The mortar section successfully qualified on the 60mm mortar system, mastering the skills needed to provide critical indirect fire support to troops on the ground.

The Big Picture:

This training successfully combined the skills of our rifle squads and heavy weapons teams. By mastering patrolling and crew-served weapons now, these Marines are fully prepared for their upcoming Warfighting Exercise (WAREX), where they will coordinate together to maneuver, attack, and defend as one cohesive unit.

Training Update:
Delta Company Marines Conquer Infantry Milestones!
Our entry-level Marines in Delta Co recently completed a demanding week of practical field training, marking a major step forward in their journey to joining the Fleet.

Here is a look at what they accomplished!

Training Event What It Means:
15-Kilometer Hike Marines pushed their physical limits, marching 9.3 miles carrying heavy combat gear through Camp Geiger to build stamina and mental toughness.

Defensive Operations:
The company spent two days in the field learning how to set up, secure, and defend a tactical position.

Weapons Training: For the first time, these Marines gained hands-on experience handling and deploying specialized equipment, including the M67 fragmentation gr***de, M320 gr***de launcher, and Claymore munitions.

The Big Picture:
This training is all about building physical conditioning, teamwork, and confidence. By successfully transitioning from classroom learning to live-fire field application, these Marines are proving they have what it takes to support future operations worldwide.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and grit this week as they continue "Making Marines" for the Fleet Marine Force!

Company K gathers for range safety brief to establish safety protocols and medical procedures for class 23-26 short bay range ex*****on.

Company K executes dynamic live-fire and movement to reinforce combat marksmanship under realistic conditions for their final day of range week.

Company F, class 24-26 executes the machinegun live-fire range at L-5, familiarizing students with the M240B machinegun and validating the machinegun handling skills learned during Tactics week.

Company F conducts night live-fire long bay range at K503, increasing proficiency at employing the service rifle under low-light conditions, engaging targets at known distances using the PVS-14 and PEQ-16.

Yesterday, the Advanced Infantry Training Company (AITC) marked a significant milestone as Captain Thomas Nelson officially relinquished command to Captain Troy Kurtz. This time-honored transition of authority symbolizes the enduring legacy of leadership, continuity, and unwavering commitment that defines our unit.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Captain Nelson for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and tireless efforts in shaping the next generation of infantry leaders. As he prepares to report to the Expeditionary Warfare School and transition to company command within the fleet, we wish him and his family fair winds and following seas.

We would also like to welcome Captain Kurtz to the AITC family. We look forward to reaching new heights of training excellence and operational readiness under his guidance.

Today, June 10th, 2026, the 20th Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, Sgt. Maj. Carlos A. Ruiz, conducted a command visit to the Marine Combat Training Battalion at School of Infantry-East, Camp Devil Dog, NC.During his visit, Sgt. Maj. Ruiz took the time to observe tactical training evolutions firsthand. He also engaged directly with our entry-level students and dedicated training staff to discuss leadership expectations, while receiving critical updates on quality of life initiatives for the Marines stationed there.Ensuring our Marines are trained, equipped, and taken care of remains a top priority.
